But that was the point... she attempted to make herself look like a saint next to Serena (in this particular scene, B was trying to sabotage S in front of Ivy League reps.) The choice of outfit had a purpose...
But she looks great!!!! I have to disagree with most of your ratings on the outfits that you feel are conservative, too uptight, matchy matchy, and grandma looking but that's Blair. She is an uppereast side princess and is proud of that. Some choices are a bit off. But overall she pulls off everything like this outfit. You don't understand costume design fashion. Everything she wears is Blair. When you look at some outfits you don't get it you judge based on your style and young mindset. Not Blair who she is what she wants and what she represents. Her clothing matches her mood, scheme, or event but she matches her style. She is an Audrey Hepburn, Anna Wintour, Brigette Bardot, she likes conversative 1920s-1960s style but adds a bit of modernity. She is ultra feminine. So the outfit works and looks good on her. So the rating along with some other few don't make sense. She doesn't look older or fat or anything. She looks like Blair. She pulls this off and well. I appreciate your pictures and naming the brands but some of your ratings and comments I don't agree with...
Please feel free to disagree as much as you like, I love when people get involved so thank you. I get where you're coming from, but for me sometimes references to fashion history (as sophisticated as they might be) aren't enough to make an outfit work. She has so many beautiful outfits that when they're not, I'm just gonna say it. If you feel like I "don't understand costume design" that's alright with me, maybe I don't, but you do get that I don't do this blog to give a professional judgement on the show's costume design, right? And like I said, you don't have to agree.
I do understand that and can tell very well that this isn't from a professional point of view but i was trying to get you to see why i disagree. Cause nothing is wrong with this outfit. She still looks beautiful and sophisticated. I say this as someone who has their on views on style and fashion...nothing professional about it. I like it and find nothing wrong with. Maybe cause i study fashion, understand the character and Eric Daman but also I'm a bit conservative in my fashion. I don't think always showing skin and wearing jeans is cute. I don't think there is nothing grandma about pearls, cloche hats or a skirt that goes to the knee or a little longer that Blair wears. But you have every right to see it your way, I just was trying to give you a new viewpoint on how to look at the outfits. I'm so sorry if it was too professional.

Sure did, doesn't mean it looks good. Or that the idea was good. Or that it worked. In other words, failed outfit. Too uptight.
